I can send from my laptop to the printer and it prints no problem
When I try to scan from my printer to my email I get Error Message 901 cannot connect to server.
It has worked fine until today.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that each of you is getting an error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 5520 printer.
There are several steps I would like you to try please.
Please turn off your printer.
Please turn off your router. If your router doesn't have an on/off switch, please unplug the power cord from the router.
After waiting a full 60 seconds please turn on your router (or plug it back in).
After the router has completed its startup routine please turn on your printer.
After the printer has completed its startup routine, please test the scan to email feature. If it works there no need to continue with any further trouble shooting steps.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS servers for the printer. I have included a link to another post with the steps, including screen shots on how to do this. Don't worry that the screen shots show a Photosmart 7510 printer, the steps are the same.

  • Having the same cannot connect' error message when trying to scan. Am able to print and to use the printer with web services but the scan will not work. Have used the diagnotics and suggested solutions posted. Please send the solution message that seems to be the answer to this problem. I need to use this feature desparately this week!

    Thank you for being a member of the HP Support Forums. I see that you are getting a connection error message when trying to use the scan to email feature of your HP printer.
    I am presuming that you still have the Photosmart 7520 that you have mentioned in previous threads. There are several steps I would like you try please.

  • I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
    I've been using this printer for several months. Now am getting an ERROR message when I try to scan to email that it 'cannot connect to server. check server name and address'
    I'm not sure how to check this. We can all still print remotely via the internet connection.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Did you recently change your operating system or network router that started to cause this error?

  • I have just got a new OfficeJet x576dw. When I try to scan to any of the email address I have sent up an Error message tell me that 'username or passowrd incorrect. Make sure both user account and passowrd are vaild'
    What is this? Why do i go to make sure these are correct?

  • can anyone help please, i am receiving email error message( cannot get mail user name and password for work is incorrect) I am using a pop3 email accessed from microsoft outlook on desktop pc, my emails come through onto phone sometimes but most of the time i get the error message. i have checked settings with my email provider and they are correct. my iphone5 provider is 02. any advice very much appreciated this is a very annoying problem thankyou

    Check the thumbnails for exclamation marks, an indication of missing files. If you have moved images or folders using your computer operating system LR won't know what you did and the original links will have been broken. You need to point LR to where you now keep the image(s) on your hard drive.

    Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are able to print but when you attempt a scan on your HP Deskjet 3510 you get an error message saying the 3510 series is not found.
    I would first like you to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
    What did the PSDR find, are you now able to scan with your DJ 3510? If you are still not able to scan please leave me with the following information:
    1. How do you have the printer connected, USB or Wireless?
    2. What is you current Operating system?
    3. Do you have any anti virus programs running, Norton or McAfee, please disable and retry the scan?

    I see that suddenly you are unable to use Scan to Email with the Photosmart 5520, receiving an error '403'. I would like to suggest the steps I have given here: Re: Trouble scanning using Photosmart 6520. The steps will work for your printer even though it is a different model.

  • I have a Photosmart 5520 printer. It was working fine until I changed all of the ink in it. Now I get an error message that the scanning and copying functions do not work, to turn it off and then back on. I have done that and it still does not work. What is the problem here? I did nothing different except to change the ink from the original starter ones to new ones.

    I read about how you had changed the ink cartridges and now you cannot copy or scan and see an error message. I personally have not heard of changing the ink cartridges affecting the copy or scan functionality, however I do have some ideas!
    1. Update the firmware: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
    2. Power reset the printer:
    Press the Power button to turn on the product.
    With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
    Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
    Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
    If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
    3. Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
    If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • Unable to scan to email. Worked previously. Can print wirelessly. Have re-booted printer, wi-fi, etc. I see that solutions have been sent to personal inboxes - please help!

    I love my 8900 but recently is has started to drive me nuts for two reasons and I wonder if you can help.
    I keep receiving emails and in the subject line it says: RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2. These emails are being sent by: [email protected]
    How can I stop these from coming through.
    At least once a week my screen goes white with Data Error message and I have to reboot the phone. Any ideas why this is?

  • I have a Photosmart 7520 working perfectly and suddenly since a week ago when I try to scan to email problem I get the error Unable to connect to web services
    I followed all the forum instructions. Removed power for over a minute from the router and printer and connected the router first.
    I checked that the apps in the printer main screen work ok,
    I followed the suggested steps below
    1. Obtain your printer's IP address
    a. This can be done by pressing the wireless icon on printer.
    2. Enter the printer's IP address in a browser.
    3. Select the network tab at the top of the page.
    4. On the left select networking.
    5. Select Network Address (IP)
    6. Select Manual DNS Server
    a. Manual Preferred DNS should read 8.8.8.8
    b. Alternate DNS Server should read. 8.8.4.4
    7. Select apply you might get a warning just select okay.
    And nothing works.
    Any help please??

  • For some reason I cannot send email - all was working fine, but now I get the following error message when I try to send email:
    'The sender address (my email address) was rejected by the server smtp.tiscali.co.uk'
    I can receive incoming mail ok and I can send email from other Apple devices. The problem seems confined to my Mac Book Pro.

  • I have read through all of the answers that I can find as to how to fix the scan to email function on my printer. The printer is only a couple of months old. I am using a Mac. I need this to work. The problem is that while I always receive the emails, they don't always have the scan attached to them. Sometimes, but not always.
    When I scan one page, it works. When I scan 10 pages, it works about half the time. When I scan 25 pages, as I sometimes do, it doesnt' work.
    HP, please fix this ! It worked just fine a couple of weeks ago!

    Please start by assigning a manual IP address and manual DNS servers to your printer. If you are unsure how to do this please click here.     Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, things have gotten progressively worse now in another direction. After I posted this, I shut down my computer to go to work. It had to 'rebuild' the filevault sparseimage to recover space.
    Now when I restarted it, I am missing things from my dock, ? marks are in their place, all of my preferences have been set to some default AND this is the biggie - I have no mail accounts whatsoever. When I click on Mail, it asks me if I want to establish a new account. It looks like the FileVault action has totally screwed up my system.
    I tried rebuilding the permissions as recommended above using safe boot. Didn't help. I am now trying to repair the FileVault sparseimage as recommended elsewhere. I think I now see what the problem might be. I have two different sparseimages for the same account with the only difference is that a 1 is appended to the second one. Unfortunately I can't tell which it is. I have a feeling I should repair the 1st one (without the suffix 1). It must not be able to open that and hence that is why it made a second one.
    Any other help anyone?
